What a pleasure to be a part of Better Basics, Birmingham Reads held each spring, when hundreds of volunteers visit Kindergarten through fifth-grade classrooms in Birmingham City Schools to read to students.
On Thursday, I enjoyed interacting with fifth grade students at Epic School. What a joy to work with such lively, interested and enthusiastic students! Each child received a new book to finish reading at home.

In addition, Birmingham Reads concludes with a day of fun focused on families and literacy. Mark your calendars now for April 20, 2013, from 10:00 a.m-2 p.m. for a fun event for the entire family featuring music, characters, entertainment, and more on the streetscape outside Brookwood village.
